In the video below, Founder, Tonya Burch, is giving her presentation at the 2023-2024 Wilson Early College Academy Awards Ceremony. During which she awards two recipients, Jada White and Elena Minter, with the Tyrique Hudson Legacy of Love Scholarship.
Jada White is an A/AB Honor Roll, Dean’s and President’s list student with a 4.5 GPA, and a member of the National Honor Society. She enjoys tutoring and helping other students around her church, and participates in the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Program and a nursing internship. Personal goals she’s set for herself include, earning her bachelor’s degree and living a successful but happy life. Her main career goal is to become a travel nurse so she can help those in their time of need and educate others. She has been accepted into NC Central University, Winston-Salem State University, UNC Charlotte, UNC Greensboro, East Carolina University, Fayetteville State University, and the illustrious NC A&T University. Elena Minter is an NC Scholar, Junior Marshall, recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution American History Award and a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.67 GPA. She was a Great Accomplishment Academy morning volunteer 2022-2023 and has been a student leader at the Eastgate Youth Group since 2020; in her leisure time, she enjoys being an older sister running, crocheting, baking and playing the guitar. After experiencing a life-altering situation last summer, her main goal that she’s set for herself is to live in love with no regrets. Her career goal is to become a physician assistant specializing in either pediatrics or oncology to provide more patient-centered care. She has been accepted into UNC Chapel Hill, Wingate University, Campbell University, James Madison University and East Carolina University’s Honor College, and plans to attend ECU Honors College with a major in Nutrition Science & Dietetics with a minor in psychology on the pre-physician assistant track.
