About the Founder
Tonya T. Burch, a native of Wilson, North Carolina and 1993 graduate of Ralph L. Fike High School, is the Founder and Director of The Tyrique Hudson Legacy of Love Foundation. After giving birth to her son in 1996, she went on to attend Mitchell’s Hair Styling Academy where she graduated in 1998. While working full-time, Tonya was sure to raise TJ to value his education and relationship with Christ - this included taking him to choir rehearsals, usher meetings and various youth activities. In August 2007, she answered the call of God on her life with the initial sermon titled “Stained Within” under the leadership of Dr. Dameion L. Royal and Lady Melessha Royal at Contending for the Faith Church Ministries located in Wilson. Because of her passion for children, Tonya pursued teaching degree and graduated from Liberty University with an associate degree in 2016. After enduring the tragic loss of her son in 2019, Tonya became a certified Grief Coach to help those who have felt a similar pain as herself. God has given her the strength and grace to impact lives even as she continues her own grieving and healing process. Tonya strives to fulfill the will of God for her life and touch as many lives as possible, whether it’s with her infectious smile, her Facebook Grief Talks or through her work with the foundation. And does so by clinging to her favorite scripture, Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
